About this geometric pattern coloring page
Seigaiha, literally "blue ocean waves", is a traditional Japanese pattern of overlapping concentric arcs that look like rolling waves or fish scales. Each wave here has four nested arcs, and rows overlap so every wave tucks behind the two in front of it. The page has 369 regions, a detailed but very rhythmic design. It is a wonderful choice for meditative coloring, because every wave repeats the same four bands and you can fall into an easy rhythm. Traditional versions are indigo and white, but sunset colors or pastel rainbows look just as lovely.

Coloring tips
For a traditional look, color the four arcs of each wave in alternating indigo and white. For a gradient ocean, use dark blue at the bottom of the page and shift gradually to pale aqua at the top. You can also give each row its own color to create horizontal stripes of waves. Pale gold in a few scattered waves adds a festive touch, like a printed kimono fabric.
