About this geometric pattern coloring page
The log cabin is a classic American quilt block built from narrow strips, or "logs", sewn in a spiral around a small center square. Traditionally the center was red to represent the hearth. This page repeats sixteen log cabin blocks for 288 regions, a medium page made entirely of long rectangles. The strips are perfect for experimenting with light and dark: shade one half of each block light and the other half dark, and the blocks combine into diagonal stripes, diamonds or zigzags, the same tricks quilters have used for generations.

Coloring tips
Give every center square a warm red, then color one diagonal half of each block in light tones and the other half in dark ones. Depending on how you rotate the light halves, you will see barn-raising diamonds, straight furrows or zigzags. Warm woods, rust and forest green make it feel like a cabin by the fire. Try printing two copies and coloring them in different layouts to compare.
